Just like the song goes, "never imagined, never once crossed my mind". It never occurs to us that one day, the people around us will one by one disappear.

my grandma passed away at one of my most trying times. for me, it was more of a additional hurt rather than a fresh one, and it does not help that in recent years, i have spoken to my grandma only for a couple of times.

She was the one who fed me when i'm young, played with me, protected me. but over the years, the adolescent child pushed her further and further away. and every time i want to close that gap, i have nothing to say to her, at most just the basic few questions. i'm ashamed to have done so, to have caused such a thing to happen.

looking back, i remember of the many times my parents would tell me how happy my grandma would be to see me. to see that young child she raised since young. but until when she was unable to speak much, then i began to talk to her.

that night, just before her death, while she was unconscious, i told her of the problems i was going through. the things that were slowly eating me up. she was the first person i actually confided in. but what's the point? it was all too late already. i reached home in the wee hours of the morning, unable to sleep, i sat on my bed. before long, a phone call came with the news that shes gone.

i cried.

for a brief moment, i just did not care about anything else, despite all the hurt and pain i'm going through. i cried to numb the feeling of helplessness in my heart. i just want to run away from everything and be gone. when the tears dried itself, i slept.

this wound, has since became a scar. painless upon touch. but yet it serves as a living memory not to neglect the people close to me. for those who still has that wound that hurts, know that it wont go away, but keeping it fresh wont help either. letting it go does not mean it will take away the memories as well, but it definitely will heal that gash in your heart.

YJ
<img width='1' height='1' and junk that we fail to realize the simplicities of life.

How about looking back and thinking, when was the last time u had a real good time, enjoying yourself and not worrying about the many troubles that bog u down in life.

God said to place our burdens on Him, to exchange our yoke with His, as His is easy and light. Why? I tend to believe that it is because He knows how much it would trouble us if we do not do it. If only we can literally cut open our minds and dissect whatever we are thinking right now. How many things that are not suppose to be there, and that we can just pick them out and throw them away like thrash.

Its not about escaping from your problems, neither is it to run away from responsibility, but rather, its simplifying a complex problem, your complex problem.

don always think that you have to have a complex solution for a complex problem. take it slow and simple; be the tortoise that wins the race and not the hare that regrets his hasty actions.

give yourself a break sometimes, have a kit kat.

take a step back, look into the big picture. You might be that one speck of sand in the universe that God has placed you in, but if you look it from God's eyes, you are that one sand that adds up to make that wonderful beach He has placed you in.

You're His, and He's yours, its just that simple. Don complex things by adding other stuff into the equation.

open up your minds, think like Him and find the simple solutions to your complex problems.

get your attitude on life right, make it pleasant and light, not draggy and heavy.

Cos our time on earth is real short. but you gotta make it count. =)

Yours truly,
YJ

Big Day

Captain Pok turn to one more year younger...haha

more pics to come frm sherrill or serene...hehe

Update

Hi ALL,
it's have been long that this blog been updated but let me (ahli aka ruth) update you!

Our Victor and Joel have enter into the ARMY and AIR FORCE on 22th June!!! Easter 2009 is here!

But this isn't the time to pass around little coloured eggs and dress in bunny costumes or have those little Easter Egg hunts, it's the Resurrection of Christ. & times like these, I really wondered how the little bunnies can get into the picture. Let's see if this equation works out..

Christ + Cross = Celebration of Bunnies???

But that's beside the point.
Coming to 2009 years ago, a man named Jesus Christ was crucified.

How many of you understand how severe is "crucification?"

Cause of death:

The length of time required to reach death could range from a matter of hours to a number of days, depending on exact methods, the health of the crucified person and environmental circumstances. Death could result from any combination of causes, including blood loss, hypovolemic shock, or sepsis following infection, caused by the scourging that preceded the crucifixion, or by the process of being nailed itself, or eventual dehydration.

A theory attributed to Pierre Barbet holds that, when the whole body weight was supported by the stretched arms, the typical cause of death was asphyxiation. He conjectured that the condemned would have severe difficulty inhaling, due to hyper-expansion of the chest muscles and lungs. The condemned would therefore have to draw himself up by his arms, leading to exhaustion, or have his feet supported by tying or by a wood block. Indeed, Roman executioners could be asked to break the condemned's legs, after he had hung for some time, in order to hasten his death. Once deprived of support and unable to lift himself, the condemned would die within a few minutes. Experiments by Frederick Zugibe have, however, revealed that, when suspended with arms at 60° to 70° from the vertical, test subjects had no difficulty breathing, only rapidly-increasing discomfort and pain. This would correspond to the Roman use of crucifixion as a prolonged, agonizing, humiliating death. Legs were often broken to hasten death through severe traumatic shock and fat embolism. Crucifixion on a single pole with no transom, with hands affixed over one's head, would precipitate rapid asphyxiation if no block was provided to stand on, or once the legs were broken.
Imagine that..
We mind even to get slapped out of love and sacrifice for our friends, but Jesus went through all that.

Imagine that..

I like YongJing's previous post about the galaxy and how God still loved us even though we're like micro-molecules compared to Him.

People worship because they believe in something, they know who they are worshipping, and they know what is the consequence of worshipping. Do you know what kind of God you worship? :]

We are not inviting our friends just because we are told to do so, but however, we are pushing for it because we want you to try, to taste the burden, to feel the harvest. We don't force, we encourage. We don't condemn you if you didn't bring any friends. We still love you. But we want to see us grow. Growth is important.
Let's us this illustration to better understand the point of growth.

Example 1:
When you were 5, $2 was all you needed daily at most.
When you were 10, you can't survive on $2.
When you were 15, you need $5 at least.
When you were/are 20, you need $10.

So on and so forth.. :]

Example 2:
If a company pays you double every day, starting from 10 cents on the first day and work for 23 working days, you'll be a millionaire. Pastor Tan demonstrated this before.

So if you do the multiplication...

1st day - $0.10
2nd day - $0.20
3rd day - $0.40
4th day - $0.80
5th day - $1.60

Just continue and you'll see. :]

Growth.

So "Pushers", don't push and stress them so hard until they freak out.
"Pushees", don't freak out when pushed, instead run in the direction of the push.

Suddenly thought about the movie "Push".. Rather random though.. He's been working hard, and I'm sure most of you are. So appreciate each other and stand for each other yea? Keep up the fight of faith and strength! :]

This blog is rather old, yes, but it can capture what other things cannot - memories, just as Patrick said. ( Oh no, I mentioned Patrick's name too many times... People might wonder why.. :x ) Nahh, just kidding. Patrick is the email mass sender. Better than UPS and DHL in sending stuff, and he's better than those automated mail receiver/sender. No offence dude. :]

On a separate note, I believe that this blog can also let us share our thoughts and views to each other regardless of distance. As long as there's something called Wi-Fi & internet, we are not limited! :]

I'll be sharing something here again another day. Because for now, my superiors are breathing down my back, staring at me for writing this instead of the email responses........ Oops.. So ...... I'll be back real soon.. Smiles*

Oh and some thing I would like to announce is that....

I'm in love with HanTing! Eventually, Peter and WQ are late!!!

So instead of waiting for them, Joel and I decided to start our warm-up first, while Victor guided Weixiang from YCK mrt station. The place was empty and despite being enclosed, it was not as hot as we expected. Before long, we exchanged a couple of rallies but no one has reached yet. =(.

Not wanting to tired ourselves before the others reach, joel and i decided to take a breather and wait for them to come.

Years gone past, and finally everyone was here! we started to split ourselves into different groups, singles and doubles respectively and started the badminton frenzy.

Like they say, time passes real fast when you are enjoying yourselves, and after losts of Joel picking up of the shuttlecock (>.<), we decided to take a short breather before continuing. Thanks to Joel, we have the luxury of having some chrysanthemum tea for drinks. "Woosh, Smack!" we continued playing and had fun. Unfortunately or fortunately, we were not able to see WeiQiang's self-admitted teammate hitting shot. According to him, he has hit two people in his entire badminton playing life. Precisely why Joel avoided teaming up with him. Well, that was not all, we realised how much stamina Peter had!! He stayed on the court for so so so so so so long. Joel keep asking, "Peter, u still can play ah?". Apparently, Peter held on all the way to the last moment before we starting to pack up and go. Things learnt from this badminton outing: 1. Joel like to hit high ball and get smashed >.<>.<.

Eventually, we still headed to the same place cos we were tired and hungry so we just wanted to eat anything. Just as Weixiang pointed out, the choices were indeed limited. T.T.

We asked for chicken and porridge based soup, the latter tasted great at the start but terrible towards the end.

The feast then started but a few things happened now and then. We found out Joel has never steamboated beef before.. T.T. He took the entire portion of beef and threw it into the soup and stirred.. -.-.. Weixiang and I screamed at him, explaining of how beef is cooked in 5 secs and he din believe. -.-.. Thank God we managed to salvage most of the beef without them turning out into tough beef steaks.

The corn tasted fabulous, so was the "tau kee". On went the feast, and we 4 talked and had good dicussions on several topics, one being when would serene get attached. erhem. =D.

After which, we went our seperate ways. That marked the end of our guys outing. I never resented being sick, but somehow both Vic and me felt out of place since we do not know where to go.

Eventually, we stuck around long enough and found out that the next program would be a session with pastor. Excited though lethargic, the afternoon sun, we proceeded to the hall only to find out that the venue was changed to the seminar room as the hall is being used by the floorball cca group of the school.

Off we went, in my heart i was trying to prepare myself for what pastor might be preaching. Evangelism? Personal life consecration? Whatever it was, i am sure it was going to be a powerful and wonderful message like he always shares. Yet, whatever happened next was never in my imagination. Pastor allowed us to view a video excerpt from another pastor, pastor Louie Giglio.

I shall not repeat every single thing he shared, but essentially, the main point pastor Giglio was making is that we are not as big as we think we are. The rich, the poor, whoever you are, you are still a human and just a small part of the entire universe that God has placed you in.

Throughout the sermon, pastor Giglio actually flashed pictures on the screen. Not just any Tom, Dick or Harry's photo but pictures of space, showing off the beauty that God has created.

Of all of them, there definitely were some that caught my attention, like the picture of the Sombrero galaxy as shown below.

Amazing isn't it? Take note how we are just able to see the entire galaxy just because we are situated just above it. So it is as if we are over-looking them.

What struck me the most was definitely the picture taken by the "Voyager I"

This picture seems like nothing, but if you notice closely at the right beam of light, just below the center line, is a pale blue dot. Guess what's that? =).

For those of you who still cant see it, I have circled it in red for you.

Quoted from the astronomer who took this photo:

“We succeeded in taking that picture [from deep space], and, if you look at it, you see a dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever lived, lived out their lives. The aggregate of all our joys and sufferings, thousands of confident religions, ideologies and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lived there on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.

The earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of the dot on scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner of the dot. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity — in all this vastness — there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. It is up to us. It’s been said that astronomy is a humbling, and I might add, a character-building experience. To my mind, there is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly and compassionately with one another and to preserve and cherish that pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known.”

What we see as individuals is limited to what our eyes allows us to see. However, things change when we take another perspective at it. What you perceive of something initially may be so different of what you will think of it when you look at it from another angle. Yet, in most cases, our minds are so rigid as to fix our eyes only from one direction.

We often compare God's love to us with the love that a father has for his child. Lets totally eradicate this perspective and look at it in another way. Through the eyes of the "Voyager I", we see Earth as no larger than a fullstop, a faint speck of dust. Needless to point out, we cant even see ourselves from this distance.

Now imagine you are god, looking from this distance, would you love the 6 billion people that you cannot even see? It is like me asking you now to pick up a speck of dust after you sweep your floor and say that you love the billions of bacteria in it.

Yet remember, God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son to pay for the sins of this world.

This reminds me so much of Tom Thumb, my childhood story book.

So the next time you think of how great a father's love is to his child, remember how God even loved his children even though they are so so so small, that even though you and i are equivalent to nothing to Him, He still loves us as much.

I don't know about you, but this video has opened my eyes to see more than what i ever could have seen.

Life is beautiful; because God is life.

P.S. The link to the video is : http://www.268generation.com/videoplayer/player.php?videoid=Indescrwide1&quality=hi

let me end of with this picture. The effort spent was all worthwhile when we see the result on the day itself.

First up; the food competition!!

Ruth's group were up first with their rendition of Ratatouille. Meticulously crafted and garnished in a way that the appetizer would be placed in a teacup with a cherry on top of it. It is pleasing to the eyes, but would its taste impress the judges?

Next up was Sherill's group! Fusing local delicacies with foreign ones, one might think that it was a terrible mistake, but was it? Turns out that the fusion food is much appreciated by the judges, especially Uncle John. Two thumbs up from him, literally on the camera. =)

Third, the long awaited Shepard's Pie from Alan's group. We all know the chefs in the making we have in that group and they hold the highest expectations amongst all groups since they have an experienced player in the field of cookery in the midst of them. The presentation of the food was not up to standard due to time constraints, but the quality more than made up for it. Beneath the atrocious looking golden covering, lies a pot of gold that when eaten, brings a smile to one's face.

Last but not least, we have our dessert! My group going thru as a 2 man show, were utterly disappointed by the ice cream we brought. =(. It seems like Murphy's Law is in full swing here, where anything that can go wrong will go wrong. The ice cream just refused to solidify and instead of having a ball of ice cream on that piping hot brownie, all there is was a puddle of vanilla liquidified cream with brownie. There goes the presentation, yet the taste though sweet for some, was delicious for others.

With that done, we head on to the next item! The Fashion parade!

The preparation time was less than adequate but the truth was we were suppose to be ready already! So there goes team 1, into the bathroom to dress up their model, Hanting. A little bit of pink sprays here and there, and that was it for group 1.

Group 2 were the most mysterious, with their model Peifen going into the room and disappearing for sight for quite awhile. Efforts by other groups and even the judges to try to peek into the room were twarted by her bodyguards sherill and chunping. Guess the only way to know how she looks is to wait for her to make her catwalk out.

Group 3, the most relaxed of them all. No need for surprises, patrick was there for all to see what he was already wearing and showed no signs of wanting to change or to hide what he was going to parade in.

Group 4, the most anticipated one of them all. Will Joseph finally pick up the courage to wear that V-neck shirt he got so so long ago? What about that mysterious scarf he was holding on? Hmmmm..

With the music set, 'Smack down', the stars made their entrance! Hanting parading in her Korean look, striking a victory pose for all to see; next Peifen finally emerges from her cave and dazzles everyone with her stunning look with shades and poses. Patrick up next, the smart sharp guy in a nice-looking black jacket, took a little time out to pose by flexing his muscles. o.O. Last but not least! Our fusion of middle eastern and western Joseph! Casual, yet carrying style.

Who did the loudest cheers go to? I believe it was for all four of them, who took the courage to parade themselves. Kudos to them all!

Time was running short, and we still have the performances before we can end our time together.

First up, a duet! Oh my, its yours truly! WOOOO!!! ok enough, >.<. with Peifen, with a rendition of San Ge Yuan Wang (3 Wishes) by FIR. It is weird to comment on my on performance. -.-. But we, pf and i, hope the crowd loved it. =).

Afterwhich, it was suppose to be the special performance by Hanting, but due to technical error, I had to go on first. So, next up was One More Moment, a solo performance by the man they call Joshua (Hmm. I wonder who). It was a song most of us are familiar with since we have heard it before, so the crowd sang along towards the end and hope they enjoyed it. Finally, the last item of the day, Hanting's performance. Undoubtly it was a wonderful effort by her to take the courage to want to perform for the cell group and it was only the lack of preparation of co-ordinating together to practice that caused it to not sound so good as it should be.

Nevertheless, I would say this fellowship cell group was a resounding success! Everyone enjoyed the food, the songs the catwalk. And most importantly, we got to see someone in a V-neck shirt. =)

Till next time!

Yong Jing

Memories

Memories are meant to be kept locked in our minds, close to our hearts. It was a wonderful sight to see members bringing their mums and grandmums to service, not only to enjoy the service but also bask in the limelight like a star for once. No doubt the praise and worship was as vibrant as before, but past the loudness, we all sense the atmosphere of love that is filling the place. A child's love for their mothers and a Father's love for His daughters.

Coming right up was the yearly drama staged by the drama team of CHC, once again bringing forth the importance of showing your love to your loved ones before you lose the chance to. Using a mixture of chinese and english to spice up the conversations, no one can forget the 'wrath of grandma' as potrayed in the drama. The love of a mother that transcends her own pride and sacrificing herself to lead the family and to keep it together, despite her husbands failings. It may seem so foreign to most of us, who come from near-to-perfect families; at least still having the father figure in our lives. THe drama seemingly shows how much a mum would go through just to bring happiness to their child, despite the cost.

If that was not the main deal for the evening, the next item sure was. Up on stage were 8 daughters and their mums, with each of them having something to say for their mum. It was not the words that were spoken, but rather the emotion and love that you can see being shown that touches your heart. The tears that well up in their eyes even before words were said, it tells you of how much both mum and daughter has gone through together and the love they have for each other. I can vividly remember one of the mums, who is not yet a christian as her daughter said on the stage, holding on tightly to her daughter even as she was giving off her speech of appreciation to her mum. It was not just a casual holding of hands, but you can see in her eyes, how much she longed for someone to acknowledge her love and hearing those words coming from her own daughter's mouth seem to touch her deeply. yet beyond that, all she ever wanted was to love her child. Another mother and daughter pair, the last pair, was unconsolable. The tears flowed freely before the first word was spoken, and you can feel the atmosphere just becoming so griefing, yet in a good way. Spoken in a dialect that i do not understand, for me, the emotions shown were justifiable to the love that i felt at that very moment.

Mother's Day has come and gone, though from e448 not many of our mums are yet saved, but we stand strong on the promise, when 1 in the household is saved, the whole household shall be saved.

But nonetheless, the spirit of Mother's Day should never only come out once a year for us. Remember, show your love while you can, or one day you would not be able to anymore. Appreciate your mums today, ya e448? =)

Yong Jing
