The long anticipated fashion show cum cooking competition has finally come and gone, no doubt most of us enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, not to mention seeing joseph in that wonderful looking V-neck shirt. =).
The nights before, different groups were slogging it out to come up with ideas not just for what food to prepare but also how to dress up their model for our fashion parade. The effort spent was all worthwhile when we see the result on the day itself.
First up; the food competition!!
Ruth's group were up first with their rendition of Ratatouille. Meticulously crafted and garnished in a way that the appetizer would be placed in a teacup with a cherry on top of it. It is pleasing to the eyes, but would its taste impress the judges?
Next up was Sherill's group! Fusing local delicacies with foreign ones, one might think that it was a terrible mistake, but was it? Turns out that the fusion food is much appreciated by the judges, especially Uncle John. Two thumbs up from him, literally on the camera. =)
Third, the long awaited Shepard's Pie from Alan's group. We all know the chefs in the making we have in that group and they hold the highest expectations amongst all groups since they have an experienced player in the field of cookery in the midst of them. The presentation of the food was not up to standard due to time constraints, but the quality more than made up for it. Beneath the atrocious looking golden covering, lies a pot of gold that when eaten, brings a smile to one's face.
Last but not least, we have our dessert! My group going thru as a 2 man show, were utterly disappointed by the ice cream we brought. =(. It seems like Murphy's Law is in full swing here, where anything that can go wrong will go wrong. The ice cream just refused to solidify and instead of having a ball of ice cream on that piping hot brownie, all there is was a puddle of vanilla liquidified cream with brownie. There goes the presentation, yet the taste though sweet for some, was delicious for others.
With that done, we head on to the next item! The Fashion parade!
The preparation time was less than adequate but the truth was we were suppose to be ready already! So there goes team 1, into the bathroom to dress up their model, Hanting. A little bit of pink sprays here and there, and that was it for group 1.
Group 2 were the most mysterious, with their model Peifen going into the room and disappearing for sight for quite awhile. Efforts by other groups and even the judges to try to peek into the room were twarted by her bodyguards sherill and chunping. Guess the only way to know how she looks is to wait for her to make her catwalk out.
Group 3, the most relaxed of them all. No need for surprises, patrick was there for all to see what he was already wearing and showed no signs of wanting to change or to hide what he was going to parade in.
Group 4, the most anticipated one of them all. Will Joseph finally pick up the courage to wear that V-neck shirt he got so so long ago? What about that mysterious scarf he was holding on? Hmmmm..
With the music set, 'Smack down', the stars made their entrance! Hanting parading in her Korean look, striking a victory pose for all to see; next Peifen finally emerges from her cave and dazzles everyone with her stunning look with shades and poses. Patrick up next, the smart sharp guy in a nice-looking black jacket, took a little time out to pose by flexing his muscles. o.O. Last but not least! Our fusion of middle eastern and western Joseph! Casual, yet carrying style.
Who did the loudest cheers go to? I believe it was for all four of them, who took the courage to parade themselves. Kudos to them all!
Time was running short, and we still have the performances before we can end our time together.
First up, a duet! Oh my, its yours truly! WOOOO!!! ok enough, >.<. with Peifen, with a rendition of San Ge Yuan Wang (3 Wishes) by FIR. It is weird to comment on my on performance. -.-. But we, pf and i, hope the crowd loved it. =).
Afterwhich, it was suppose to be the special performance by Hanting, but due to technical error, I had to go on first. So, next up was One More Moment, a solo performance by the man they call Joshua (Hmm. I wonder who). It was a song most of us are familiar with since we have heard it before, so the crowd sang along towards the end and hope they enjoyed it. Finally, the last item of the day, Hanting's performance. Undoubtly it was a wonderful effort by her to take the courage to want to perform for the cell group and it was only the lack of preparation of co-ordinating together to practice that caused it to not sound so good as it should be.
Nevertheless, I would say this fellowship cell group was a resounding success! Everyone enjoyed the food, the songs the catwalk. And most importantly, we got to see someone in a V-neck shirt. =)
Till next time!
